Walking trail of light installations among the trees at The Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Nov 14, 2026 – Jan 2, 2027. Timed tickets; prices vary by date.
Illumination is The Morton Arboretum's holiday light show, now in its 14th year: an outdoor trail of light installations among the arboretum's trees. The arboretum is in Lisle, in the western suburbs, about 30–40 minutes from downtown Chicago on I-88.
The 2026–27 season runs from Saturday, November 14, 2026 to Saturday, January 2, 2027. Entry is by timed ticket and prices vary by date, so book ahead for weekends and the week before Christmas. A concession tent on the trail sells snacks, hot drinks and s'mores kits from 4:30 to 9 pm.
A few nights are worth knowing about. Sensory Night on Tuesday, November 17 uses static lights and quiet music for anyone who finds crowds and noise hard. Dogs are allowed on December 2, 9 and 16 and January 1, with a separate dog ticket. The small Pine Whistle Railroad costs $9 extra ($7 for members, free for children 3 and under). Premium parking near the entrance is $18 on busy nights.
