Lantern and light festival along the trails of the Houston Botanic Garden. Timed tickets from $24.50, and some nights you can bring the dog.
Radiant Nature fills the Houston Botanic Garden, near Sims Bayou in southeast Houston, with large illuminated lanterns and light installations along the garden trails. It is quieter than the big shows and walks at an easy pace, which suits families with older kids, grandparents and couples.
Entry is by timed ticket every half hour from 6 pm, with the last entry at 9 pm. Arriving after 8:30 pm is a little cheaper. On select nights dogs are welcome with their own ticket ($10, or $5 for members), something none of the other big Houston light shows offer.
The season is long: it runs until February 21, so it is also an option after the holidays when the other shows have packed up. It is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day.
