Walk-through light trail inside the Houston Zoo with themed zones, nightly snow and, new for 2026, Christmas Day hours.
Every winter the Houston Zoo in Hermann Park turns its paths into a walking trail of lights. The 2026–27 season has themed zones such as animal lanterns at the gateway, lit oak trees, a candy-cane lane, a campfire canyon and a frosted forest with snow every night. There is a sensory-friendly night with softer music and fewer flashing lights.
Tickets are dated and only valid for the night you book. The cheapest way in is a members' preview night (Nov 17–18, $14.95 a person). During Community Appreciation Week (Dec 14–18) there are set nights when seniors, first responders and service members, college students and educators get in free with ID. Children 2 and under are free. The zoo has no parking of its own; the free Hermann Park lots fill quickly, so arrive early or take the METRORail. The show runs rain or shine.
