Lightscape is a walking trail of large light installations through the Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe, on the North Shore about 40 minutes from downtown. For 2026 the garden says 20 of its 24 installations are new, including a walk-in snow globe, so it's worth going even if you went last year.
The trail is open on evenings from mid-November through January 3, 2027. Ticket prices change by date, time and demand, and the garden says many dates currently have tickets under $30; buying early gets the best choice and price. If the weather worries you, tickets can be exchanged up to 72 hours before your date for a $10 fee per transaction.
Parking can be bought in advance. Check the garden's calendar for the exact nights and entry times before you plan.
