Choose-and-cut pine and cypress east of Austin, from $59 for a 4-foot tree; pre-cut Fraser firs from $129. Season opens Sat, Nov 21, 2026; free entry.
The Elgin Christmas Tree Farm has been selling trees in Central Texas for more than 35 years, about 40 minutes east of downtown Austin. You can cut your own pine or cypress, both grown on the farm, or buy a pre-cut Fraser fir shipped from North Carolina. The farm points out that cypress doesn't shed pollen, which helps if someone in the family has allergies.
The 2026 season opens on Saturday, November 21. Entry is free. Cut-your-own trees are priced by height: $59 for 4 feet, $95 for 6 feet, $119 for 7 feet and $149 for 8 feet, up to $289 for 11 feet. Pre-cut Fraser firs cost $129 for 6–7 feet up to $249 for 9–10 feet. Prices don't include tax. Wreaths, tabletop trees and stands are also for sale.
The farm lends you a saw and twine, and shakes and bales your tree at no extra cost. Arrive by 5 pm if you want to cut your own. Food vendors and the farm's attractions are there only on Saturdays, Sundays and the Friday after Thanksgiving. Dogs are welcome. The farm advises coming early in the season, from the weekend before Thanksgiving, for the best choice of trees, since dates can change as trees sell out.
